Beers, Burgers, & Baseball

It was a gloriously cool August afternoon for the Nats vs. Giants game yesterday.  We were one out away from a win when the Giants got a grand slam....but no need to be heavy of heart, because we were there for the beer!

As one of the events for DC Beer Week, our game tickets included a two-hour afterparty with all-you-can-drink beer from a selection of local and more widespread breweries, a Shake Shack burger and fries, and live band.

I had been running on empty most of the day so my sample consumption didn't last long.  About 150 people took over the upper deck at Nationals Park where the kegs were set up.  Unlike the Beer & Crab festival we went to a few years ago at the National Harbor, the wait for a sample was never more than a few minutes and there was plenty of room to spread out, enjoy the lovely evening weather, and watch the mower do his job on the darkened field.  The band was sick.  They mostly played 90's covers but once the beer serving ended everyone gathered around the stage and head-banged (Hans included!) to the Cranberries' Zombie.  The bemused band yelled "where the f*ck have you guys been all night?" Drinking beer! Duh!  Then everyone got up and stomped to Tubthumping.  Ah, high school memories...
