It's a bit difficult to describe how today (yesterday?) began. Our airport shuttle arrived at the house at 4 am EST on Thursday and we arrived at our Tokyo hostel at about 10 pm on Friday, local time. In total we traveled for about 27 hours straight!
We crossed the International Dateline some time after dinner on our Singapore Airlines flight, which was actually fairly comfortable even in economy class. The flight crew was very kind and friendly (Singapore Airlines seriously has the best stewardess uniforms) and the in-flight entertainment made eleven hours pass quickly.
We are staying in the quiet Sumida neighborhood here in Tokyo, the sumo wrestler district! We are actually down the street from the main wrestling stadium. Our hostel is very conveniently located near two rail lines so we are ready to explore!
